Psychodynamic Therapy focuses on developing insight into the unconscious content, conflicts and motives that may be affecting an individual.
It is similar to psychoanalysis in approach as it may involve free association or dream analysis and is based on childhood experiences that affect adult functioning, but in general requires less therapeutic time.
It is also called expressive or supportive therapy as it strives to relieve issues by helping the client develop insightfulness and awareness of an individual's feelings.
Psychodynamic therapy draws from varying different approaches in order to best assist each individual.
