Therapeutic Approach
Shaun utilises evidence-based techniques in his work including interpersonal, cognitive behavioural, solutions focused, mindfulness, systems, and existential approaches. However, Shaun believes that the basis for all successful counselling is the development of a warm, respectful, and empathic relationship, allowing for a collaborative approach in discussing problems, identifying goals, and bringing about change.
Background
Shaun’s background includes work in counselling, clinical, psychiatric, and business settings. He has extensive experience with clients in both group and individual therapy.
Shaun’s doctoral research focused on divorce and the experience of Australian men. He draws extensively on this research when working with clients experiencing this difficult life event.
He also has expertise in the treatment of anger, having developed and run successful programs to help both men and women better manage this emotion.
Although Shaun specialises in working with male clients, his practice extends to working with women, adolescents, parents, and in group programs.
